Reports for your backup tests.

Create backup test reports for your team or your next audit. Choose the period and the tests you want to document.

Choose the tests to include

Select a period and decide what belongs in the report: all tests in a project, tests from a particular schedule, or individual tests you select. A report can contain up to 500 tests. Add a title and an optional description to explain what the report is for.

Record results for audits

The report brings together the results of the selected tests. For each test, you can review the steps, the settings used, and the results of your checks. If a test failed, you can see where it went wrong.

This gives you a record of the tests carried out during the period and their outcomes for an audit. The report captures the information as it stood when the report was created.

Share a PDF

Download the report as a PDF to share with your team or auditor. Reports are currently generated in English. See Pricing to check whether reports are included in your plan and which limits apply.

What a successful test tells you

A successful database test shows that the selected backup could be restored in the test environment and passed your checks. A file check tests the file against your requirements without restoring it into a database. What the result tells you about your backup depends on the checks you choose.

Download and verify OTS proofs

If an OpenTimestamps proof (OTS) is available for a completed test, you can download the .ots file and the corresponding test data as JSON. Keep both files together. You or your auditor can then verify independently of RestoreTrust that the test data match the proof and existed in that form no later than the confirmed time. The proof is based on the SHA-256 hash of the test data, which OpenTimestamps anchors in the Bitcoin blockchain. The timestamp proof is not complete until confirmation has finished. It establishes that the test record existed; it does not certify the completeness of the backup or the accuracy of the recorded results and execution times.
